I was in Japan this early May, 2016. It past peak of cherry blossoms but I still enjoyed some. Food was great as always and peaceful temples and shrines are perfect place to visit.
Estancia Huechahue (“way-cha-way”) is 15,000 acres of cattle ranch in Argentina Patagonia. Patagonia is unfeasibly beautiful, rugged and wild. Huechahue maintains traditional values and customs whilst welcoming visitors into a unique world where horses and cattle still roam free and food is home grown.
I rode horses a few days herding cattle with Gauchos. Amazing!!! I did not have much experience with riding horses but I felt safe with gauchos and other guests. Enjoyed walking, trotting, cantering and wonderful view.
Asada roasted whole Lamb was so tasty. Most things we ate were home grown or homemade; sausage, smoked trout, smoked boar, bacon, milk, cream, yogurt, honey, apricot jam, plum jam, vegetables, bread, ice cream… Rustic but good.
I was in Buenos Aires, Argentina the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015. The meat was so tasty as I expected and the price was great. The best steak I had was at El Establo, a local diner like restaurant. My friend and I sat at a counter with locals looking at steaks and chorizo sausages (not spicy at all) as they were grilled. We pointed out whatever looked good. We had a Morcilla (blood sausage) which was rich in flavor, flaky dough Empanada with hot melted fillings, and the steak with full of flavor and done just right.
Had dinner at Caci. Great addition to Southold.
Chickpea Passatina with Rosemary and Sauteed Shrimp
Potato Blinis with Homemade Sausage, Leeks & Marscapone Sauce
Potato Gnocchi with Crescent Duck Ragu & Pecorino Romano
Maltagliati with White Veal Bolognese & Dried Ricotta
I really enjoyed chickpea purée with shrimp. The shrimp was tender and soup was balanced. And they served hot. Ragu in the gnocchi was very good, but gnocchi itself was very soft? The blinis also lacked texture although the sauce was very flavorful. Staff were all nice and well trained. Give it a try!
